Kalanos - Platanos
Kalanos is a small Village, next to the road that connects Patras with Kalavrita trough Chalandritsa; it is situated in the middle of Patras to Kalavrita journey.
Kalanos is known for its spectacular view. When there are no clouds visitors can even see the sea of Patraikos Gulf. Kalanos is built on top of a small canyon and at the bottom of the canyon there is a Monastery of Mary Virgin of Chrysopodarousa. A gravel path from the main road, which can be crossed by car, cycle or even by foot, leads to the above Monastery.
At the exit of the village you will find the village Platanos. The two villages are so close to each other, that they can be mistaken as a single village. After village Platanos there is the village Kompigadi. Between Platanos and Kompigadi, if you look at the opposite side of the canyon, parallel to the road, you will see the ruins of Old Kompigadi. It is deserted due to landslides. The Church of the village has been preserved up till now, and it is in very good condition.
Village Kalanos offers traditional taverns, where you can enjoy traditional meat dishes and salads.
